Wellington Education

Welllington is part of the Palm Beach County School District, one of the largest and fastest growing in the State of Florida.

Florida recently enacted a $5 Billion spending program to expand and improve the public school system in response to the States’ rapidly growing school population. Ample signs of this are noticed by the new schools being built in virtually every area you drive by.

The commitment has been made – Florida is committed to providing superior public school education to its residents.

Wellington History

One of Palm Beach County’s newest and most desired communities, Wellington is located southwest of West Palm Beach.  Wellington is a family oriented community with excellent schools, plenty of recreational opportunities and an excellent quality of life.  Wellington currently has more than 28,000 year-round residents as well as tens of thousands of winter guests from around the world who enjoy the areas’ renowned equestrian activities.

Wellington is home to the Palm Beach Polo & Country Club where polo games and equestrian competitions and exhibitions take place in the winter season. Some communities have properties with barns, stalls, access to riding trails, and permit horses.

More than 10,000 students attend the community’s seven highly ranked schools which include four elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. Several institutions of higher learning are located nearby.

Wellington is minutes away from Palm Beach International Airport, the Palm Beach Convention Center, the Coral Sky Amphitheater and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Close by is a national water ski championship course at Okeeheelee Park, championship golf courses, beaches, up-scale shops and restaurants.

Nearby, Wellington Regional Medical Center in West Palm Beach Florida is a 120-bed, acute care hospital owned by Universal Health Services (UHS), Inc., a highly respected healthcare management organization.

While Wellington has stayed true to its rural roots, its location provides residents with easy access to all of Palm Beach County.  The recently completed Wellington Mall, boasts Nordstroms, Lord and Taylor, JC Penney as anchors, and more than 150 shops and services to meet your every need.

Families moving into the area have their choice of lovely existing homes, or new homes in the communities of Versailles, Black Diamond. Olympia, Isles of Wellington, Equestrian Club, and others.

Wellington Housing

Wellington is a newer area, barely 20 years old. It is largely suburban in character, with many distinctive residential neighborhoods.  The nearby Wellington Mall handily services all shopping needs.

Wellington‘s highly regarded neighborhood schools, community center, facilities and amenities make it a magnet for family with school aged children.

Additionally, Wellington is a center for those with an equestrian bent, hosting world famous polo and equestrian events. Many homes have their own stables, barns, and access to riding trails.

For an inland look, the natural beauty of the Everglades National Forest graces Palm Beach County.  It flourishes in millions of acres of unspoiled beauty.  For a bit more exercise you might want to go hiking, canoeing, kayaking, diving, cycling, or camping.  While doing these activities keep a look out for rare species of birds and wildlife that live within the boundaries.  For water activities, air boat tours and rides are available.  Keep your eyes open and you might get a glimpse of sea turtles, ospreys, pelicans, or manatees.

There are more than 1,100 courts in Palm Beach County.  The Chris Evert Training Academy offers instruction year round from beginners to advanced players.

WATER, BOATING AND FISHING

The coast off Palm Beach County is ideal for SCUBA divers of any level.  We've got some of the best diving along the entire East Coast.  The water temperatures stay comfortable all year round averaging around 70-84 degrees.  Freshwater activities, such as fishing is a dream in Palm Beach County.  With Lake Osborne, Lake Ida, Lake Okeechobee (one of America's largest freshwater bodies) and countless canals in between, you can catch yourself a Largemouth bass, Sunshine bass, Bream, Bluegill and Catfish in plentiful numbers.  Other activities include, boating and chartering a yacht.

There are numerous marinas located by the ocean and intra coastal waterway.  They offer various water activities for those who wish to take part such as:

Wellington Transportation

West Palm Beach is centrally located in dynamic South East Florida.

We are conveniently located to three major airports, Palm Beach International Airport, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, and Miami International Airport, as well as several private plane airfields.

Two major highways I-95 and The Florida Turnpike, transverse the county from north to south.

Cruise ships and cargo vessels use the Port of Palm Beach, and the Miami piers.

Light rail service runs from Miami through the county to points North.
